Rob Smith Fitness

Personal Trainer and Fitness Coach

I'm Rob and This Is Me

I’ve been working out my entire life but over the last few years (starting when my first daughter was born 6 years ago) I let myself go and gained a lot of weight.

My weight hit 225 lbs and I knew I had to make a change.

In January 2023, I started working out again at home and made slow, gradual changes to my eating habits.

In the first two months I lost 20 lbs.

I’m still making small changes that over time are becoming permanent changes.

I can teach you how to train effectively and efficiently and how to make the changes I’ve made to ensure long term success.

Me and Exercise

I started weight training as a teenager in the late 1980s, and I learned the basic from studying Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lee Haney.

My whole life I’ve been teaching friends and family how to exercise.

In fact my original major in college was exercise physiology.

Really, I have always wanted to be a personal trainer.

I have finally decided to pull the trigger and go for it.

Call me or text me at 980-505-9933 to talk about how I can help you.

How I Work

I start out by teaching you the basic workouts I used to lose weight initially.

You do not need any special equipment.

All you need is two dumbells (ideally 5 lbs to 15 lbs to start).

You can perform my workouts anywhere in your house.

My method works. Look at the photo at the top of the page again to see the results I can deliver.

And to make it even easier, I come to you.

A Little More About Me

I’m a Charlotte native. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1997 with a BA in Psychology.

I worked for a few years after college, mostly in real estate, and then moved out of the country.

I was only planning to be away for one year but I eneded up living abroad for 14 years in three different countries: New Zealand, China and Japan.

2001 to 2004: I earned my MA in Theatre and Film Studeis from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. I lived in Christchurch and Wellington during this time.

2004 to 2008: I lived in China in three different cities: Shanghai, the tiny town of Ma’An and Wuhan. I taught English, worked as a freelance writer and worked on a few video productions.

2008 to 2011: I moved back to Christchurch, New Zealand to pursue my PhD in Cultural Studies. I experienced two major earthquakes in Christchurch during this period and that changed my mind about graduate school. I withdrew from my PhD program and moved to Tokyo, Japan.

2011 to 2015: I taught English and wrote my first book in Tokyo. I met my wife at work. She is from São Paulo, Brazil. We got married and moved back to Charlotte in 2015.

2015 to Present: I resumed my real estate career in Charlotte (I started my own real estate company in 2019) and continued writing more books.
